Removing molten lead from t6061 aluminum
« on: January 29, 2010, 11:14:05 AM »
I have a conical filter of t6061 aluminum that has become encrusted with splatters of molten lead. I am trying to find a way to safely remove the lead without damaging the aluminum. I have heard that a ammonia/ peroxide mix will pit the aluminum and also create lead acetate. Any help on this will be appreciated.

16M nitric acid may work in this case.
Neither flask nor beaker.
