Is there any advantage or disadvantage to using titanium instead of stainless steel as the electrodes in hydrogen generators using either sodium hydroxide (NaOH) or potassium hydroxide (KOH) as the electrolyte?

Obviously, titanium has better chemical performances, for example, more stable chemical properties, owning a density half as much as stainless steel but similar strength and harder to be corroded.
In terms of disadvantages, costs must be taken into consideration. Titanium costs much more.

P.s. It occurs to me that there seems to be an interesting phenomenon in using titanium as the electrodes. Pay attention to the color of the surface the titanium during the experiments. Just try to change the concentration of the electrolyte and the color may change, partly resulting from the surface oxides.
