Hi All,
I am wondering what reagents to use to convert 1,2-dibromo cyclohexane to 1,3-cyclohexa diene?
I am sure the process is dehydrobromination, but have no idea what reagent would be suitbale.
Thanks

I think you can just use 2 equivalents of some strong base (NaH perhaps) to effect a double E2 elimination and give you 1,3-cyclohexadiene in one pot. Other eliminations (i.e. to get an alkyne or an allene) should be unfavored because of the ring. The exact reaction or something similar is probably already known.

I think you should use Kt-OBu in dry thf solution under the nitrogen atm. if you use 1.1 Eq t-KOBu you will see changing colour generally brown scale. good luck
