Hi everyone. I am looking at some redox and I am wondering if the coefficient of a compound or ion has a bearing on its oxidation number. For example, in 2H2O, will the oxidation number of hydrogen become +4 or stay as +2. Similarly will oxygen's be -4 or stay as -2?
If it does have a bearing, what about on single element ions such as 2H+. Will the oxidation number of this now become +2?
Thank you for any advice.
