Electrochemistry Question
« on: February 14, 2010, 09:15:54 PM »
When measured against a standard hydrogen electrode, a half-reaction produces a cell potential of +0.993 V

What will be the cell potential measured versus
a) The SCE reference electrode?
b) The Ag/AgCl reference electrode?
------------------------

My answers:

a) 0.993v+0.241v=1.234 v

b)0.993v+0.197v= 1.19 v

Am I correct?

Thanks in advance!

It is easier to see if you write down the different potentials on a potential scale, like in a timeline. Where are the NHE, SCE, Ag/ACl and your couple?
