Fishtank Chemistry
« on: February 18, 2010, 11:30:08 PM »
Hello everyone,

I'm new to the Chemical Forums but it seems to be a very informative and professional site! I'm glad I stumbled upon it!

Although IB Chemistry is one of my most interesting subjects in high school, it is by far the most challenging for me (I am an English/Music person, not math/science at all). As you could infer, my grades are not the best, and I am in search of an approachable extra-credit project I could do to raise my grade.

I thought for a while on what I could do, and decided that I should include a hobby of mine, something that interests me. The only applicable hobby I have is fishkeeping.

I feel that, with the help of people on this forum, I would be able to propose a simple experiment involving fishtank chemistry (NH3 cycle, dechlorination, etc.)

Does anyone have any suggestions for a unique, interesting project? Any and all ideas and suggestions are welcome.

Thanks!

cheers,
gabriel

NH3 cycle won't be very innovating, but challenging enough and results should be nice to present - and good presentation may make even mediocre experiment look good ;)

I agree, but as I said, chemistry is not  my strongest point. I'm not trying to do anything ground-shaking.

Do you have any suggestions on how to outline my experiment?
