Solution Problem- check answer pls?
« on: July 24, 2005, 01:46:08 AM »
How many grams of Sodium chloride are need to prepare 750mL of a 0.125 M solution?

My answer process-

.125M NaCl= ??/.75L NaCl

??=.125(.75)

??= .09 moles/gram

.09 moles/gram X 58.5g NaCl/1 mole NaCl= 5.265g NaCl

Correct or incorrect?

Thank you.

(last question tonight. I swear!)

the procedure is correct but...

1) dont call that moles/gram. moles will do fine.(u're just calculating how many moles).

2) moles x Mr = mass

3) give your answers in the same no. of sig fig. as the values given. so instead of 0.09, put 0.0938 instead. significant figures are present to specify the degree of accuracy, and by using less or more, u can make big mistakes.

Your pretty much on the money with that answer.

I used si data values and ended up with:

(0.0938M)(58.44g/mol)=5.48g
The only stupid question is a question not asked.
