About Intermolecular Forces in Solutions! Please help?!
« on: May 13, 2010, 09:08:00 PM »
I will be ever so grateful to any kind, knowledgeable stranger that may be able to answer any of the (important!) questions listed below:

-> What must happen in an ionic compound for it to dissolve in water? And what type of INTRAPARTICLE FORCES must exist between ions in an ionic compound?

-> What types of INTERmolecular forces between water molecules at room temp.? And what types of intermolecular forces exist between water molecules IN a glass of water at room temp.?

-> What must happen with the water molecules so that they can DISSOLVE compounds?

-> What type of INTERPARTICLE forces exist between ions and water molecules in a solution?

Thank you so very much in advance.

Google the following.

hydrogen bonding

in those you will find your answers
