Urgent Questions The Eyring equation
« on: April 25, 2010, 01:32:20 PM »
Hi guys I had a couple of questions which I really need the answer for my final exam and it would be a great help if I could get the answers since I tried and could not solve them.

Here is the first one.

The rate of the decomposition of ethanol was measured over the
temperature range 700-1000 K, and the rate constants are reported below. Find the
activation energy Ea and the pre-exponential factor A. Be careful with units!

T (K)                     700     760       790      840      910    1000
k2 (dm3 mol-1 s-1) 0.011   0.105   0.343    2.17     20.0     145

Using the following relations find the entropy of activation, ΔS⊕ at 790 K(Use A from the last part is known)
pΘ = 100kPa.
Ea = ΔH⊕ + 2RT
k2=k(kT/h)(RT/pΘ)exp(ΔG/RT)
