In the protocol of laboratory work there is an instruction to mix ammonium chloride NH4Cl with potassium phosphate Na3PO4 and hot water, then wait and let the solution to cool. I felt an ammonia smell, after a while there were beautiful crystals in the beaker.
Please, help me to write the equation of this problem!
I tried:
Na3PO4 + 2NH4Cl + 4H2O
NaNH4HPO4*4H2O + NH3 + 2NaCl
If so, the practical result is more than 100% of theoretical and is wrong, professor confirmed it.
Na3PO4 + NH4Cl = NaNH4HPO4 + NaCl + NaOH
It is wrong too... There may be non-hidrated salt in equation also.
Thanks!
