I know hydroxylamine hydrochloride will react with acetonitrile under basic conditions, ie where free hydroxylamine is present, but is it safe to recrystallize a hydroxylammonium salt from acetonitrile?

Thanks, the internet has not been illuminating regarding hydroxylamine reactions under neutral conditions.

100% sure no reactivity. It´s safe to recrystallize it from acetonitrile. I would use methanol.

too soluble in MeOH.  Another of my salts is of very similar polarity so I anticipate it to work in a similar manner.

Question in a similar vane....acetone, neutral conditions, hydroxylamine hydrochloride; unreactive as well?

Yeah...the same. Unreactive. You can also try 1,4-dioxane.
