Reverse transcriptase-PCR problem! please help.
« on: June 13, 2010, 01:02:31 PM »
I don't get some content about the use of RT-PCR for measure HIV viral load. Hope you can help.  :'(

The RT-PCR can be used to determine the HIV viral load by using reverse transcriptase to trascribe mRNA present in the blood sample to cDNA and then use the primers and PCR technique to amplify the amount of PCR product then use the standard curve to relate the PCR product with the original concentration of the HIV-RNA.

I don't get the point that if you can amplify as much cDNA as you want how can you measure the viral load from that, since you can control the amount of the PCR product?  ??? ??? ???

Best regards,
