Ok, can you tell us the source of H3O+?

The reason I'm asking this is if you're using something like HNO3/H2SO4, then nitration or sulphonation is possible in the ring

I haven't done this reaction and this is further from the stated question, if the toluene were labeled with deuterium or D2O were used in place of H2O, then I could think it might be used to make D5-toluene.
