paramagnetic substances influence as shift reagent in NMR

hi all
when someone use Ni or Co as shift reagent the peaks in NMR are broaden but when they are replaced with lantanids ions like Eu the peaks will not be broaden any more, what is the difference between these two paramagnetic substances?
