reaction order?

hi all
in general chemistry book by Mortimer it has noted that rate of following reaction is:
2N2O5(g)--->4NO2(g)+ O2(g)
rate=k[N2O5]
and it has written so the reaction order is 1 is this correct?
I think it should be 2 !!!

 This reaction could be processed in several steps. If it is, You can't just say its order is 2 by looking at the coefficient of N2O5. Therefore, you should always be careful.

Are you sure? I thought the mechanism of decomposition of N2O5 is
step 1: N2O5 ⇔ NO2 + NO3 (fast, equilibrium)
step 2: NO2 + NO3 → NO + NO2 + O2 (slow)
step 3: NO3 + NO → 2 NO2 (fast)

unfortunately in the book (general chemistry by Mortimer, chapter 14) it has been written only that, may be the reactions that you have written has been ignored by the author for simplification, by the way thanks for your help  :D
