Reaction Nomenclature Rules?
« on: August 24, 2010, 01:19:57 PM »
Does anyone know if there is a "correct" way to name chemical reactions such as fluoro-oxidation versus oxyfluorination.  Both terms are used in the literature for the same reaction.  According to IUPAC, when naming compounds, alphabetic order comes into play.  Does this apply to reaction names also?

There's nothing official that I know of, only convention.
