« on: September 13, 2010, 03:50:33 AM »
We have got precipitations during the process of making sodium aluminate liquor, anyone who knows how to reduce precipitations and make the liquor transparent and clear? You help doing this will be very much appreciated! Many thanks!

filter it?

Thanks man! We have tried to filter it and leave it there for a months. The liquor is still not clear after we took out all the precipitations. Any idea?

what did you filter it through?  it sounds like you have suspended Al2O3 particles, which can be very small.

NaAlO2 is a salt of Al(OH)3,a so weak acid,it will be hydrolyzed to Al(OH)3 spontaneously.

     NaAlO2 + 2H2O  :rarrow: NaOH  +  Al(OH)3

So the solid in your solution may be Al(OH)3,if so ,you can add some NaOH to inhibit the equilibrium above.
