Calculating Maximum Mass
« on: September 19, 2010, 05:03:48 AM »
One of the steps in the industrial production of nitric acid (HNO3) is:

3NO2 + H2O -> 2HNO3 + NO

In a lab scale experiment 125g of NO2 were allowed to react with 55.0g of H2O. Calc the max mass of HNO3 that could be formed?

Molar masses: NO2=46.01
H2O=18.02
HNO3=63.02
NO=30.01
