Separation or purification of compounds
« on: September 26, 2010, 10:32:41 AM »
Hi this is chidambar,
I have a mixture of two compounds which are very close by in TLC (Rf of < 0.05) the difference is mass is also very less appr 120. I have tried performing normal silica columns but they turned out to be long and cumbersome. So how do i go about separating them.

Thank you for the help.

I'm afraid that without any additional information, it will be really difficult to advise you.

You might try a different stationary phase (alumina...) or even reverse phase (if the two compounds are better separated on HPLC).
