Can HSO4^- have a triple bond resonance?
« on: September 29, 2010, 11:06:06 PM »
I know the resonance structures of HSO4- that has double bonds, but can it have a triple bond part of it's resonance as well? I counted the overall net charge and it came up to be (-) and a total of 32 VE.

Nothing to really forbid it, but it may be so high energy that it does not contribute anything (useful) to the hybrid.
