FT-IR spectrum

1- while Browsing the  new FT-IR (Bruker tensor 27 ) installed in our lab i find option to perform from 1to 5 th derivatives of the spectrum ?

 do any body deal with that ? if yes what is its applications ?

2- also there is spectrum normalization in different ways like min max normaliztion , vector normalization , offset normalization my question is : Is this normalization what we studied in quantum mechanics and spectroscopy or it is some thing different ?

My instrument is way older, and does not have most of the options you have. What I know:
1. Derivatives are used (sometimes) to find accurate locations of the peaks, and see if the peak is single one or two overlapping peaks.
2. The most common normalization expands spectrum to a full T% or A scale (obviously you do not use it for quantitative IR). In my lab we use it for presentation purposes only.

Other options - sorry do not know.

also , some body told me that derivatives of peaks useful in following reaction changes by IR
