Dehydration of RM
« on: October 29, 2010, 06:07:49 PM »
Hello,

I need to find a dehydrating agent which is compatible with DMF and KOtBu. Unfortunately, after doing several searches, I have only come up with sieves. The other components in the flask are an aryl a-keto ester and an aliphatic amide.

Any help is greatly appreciated. It seems like I should have been able to find something other than sieves.

Thanks!

I recently saw a paper (totally unrelated substrate, but was also a condensation) that just stirred with MgSO4 in it.  I can send you the reference if you want, I don't know how well it will tolerate your functionalities or other conditions though.
