Hi i was think about using water , diethyl ether .and also sodium bicarbonate so that i can separate out the benzoic acid as benzoate. what do u think , am i on the right path?

not sure but wouldnt it be easier to use acid-base extraction , the compound with the lower pka will react first with the base forming the salt that could be extracted.
