Can anybody assist me in balancing the following reaction?
Ca(ClO)2 + NaHSO4 →?
Ca(ClO)2 can be decomposed with a acid the produce chlorine gas. The reaction is very easy with HCl, but the reaction also takes place with sodium bisulphate NaHSO4. The problem is that sodium bisulphate dissociates in water to Na+ and HSO4-. The latter is in equilibrium H+ <--> SO4-.
The Ca precipitates as CaSO4 but what happens to the Na? Does it from Na2SO4?
I’ve balanced it to;
Ca(ClO)2 + 2NaHSO4 ---> CaSO4 + Na2SO4 + 2H2O + Cl2
But is not correct. Can anybody help me?
