organic mineral testing
« on: November 22, 2010, 09:36:17 PM »
hello

i have a matrix , where there is organic mineral complex (mineral with amino acid chelation )

i am supposed to quantify the mineral proteinate in it .

it contains zinc, iron, selenium, chromium, copper, iron and manganese all proteinates .

is there a method where i can quantify them as proteinates .

right now i am ashing the sample and quantifying each separately

i only have a spectrophotometer at my dispense , so i have to work with a limited resource .

and does anybody have a procedure to separate chromium from the matrix .

any information will be really helpful .

can i use EDTA to block interfering elements .

how do i find out at what ph can i block each specific element ?

right now iron is by phenanthroline method , copper by dithiocarbamate method and chromium by diphenycarbazide method .

when i did this , cu interferes with fe testing , so had to remove cu .

but does fe interfers while testing of chromium .

and the second issue is chromium is oxidation state 3 have to convert to 6 , doing this by ammonium persulfate method .

so far to remove iron , phosphoric acid is not giving promising result .

tetra sodium pyrophosphate can it be used to bind iron ?

Sorry, I don't work with proteinates (yet), I thought you were developing a method and asking for help with complexing different proteinates, which is seen in the link.
