CO2 Release
«

This should be a simple problem so I'm hoping the boffins on here can help me out. I'm looking for a reactant that will react with water (likely salty water with undetermined salt content) to release carbon dioxide and something non-toxic. Further, I need the reaction to have a pretty significant delta G value and drive to completion to the right.
+ H2O --> CO2 +
.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Perihelion,
To balance the equation, it looks like you may need some form of hydrocarbon as a reactant, and some product with hydrogen as a product.
What examples have you tried to find?
Thanks for your help,
Eugene
