will anybody give explanation ,
i am getting ester while  doing reaction of acyl chloride with grignard reagent i suppose to get ketone??

are you getting dimerization products? If so, decrease the concentration by a lot.

Ideal: keep all reagents dry and air-free. use dry solvent (no alcohols!).

Use 1 eq of grignard, add the grignard reagent slow enough to avoid a substantial exotherm. I usually keep the temp below -60. If you don't add the grignard reagent fast enough or have a reaction mixture which is too concentrated or both, you can get dimerization. If you add too fast and get a substantial exotherm, double additions tend to occur.

If you get it just right, yields and crude product purity are great.
