Rotational Spectroscopy
« on: January 11, 2011, 04:10:18 PM »
HI I have just signed up to this forum and here is my first Q:

the equilibrium bond length of CN- is 116pm. using this bond length calculate:

(i) the wavenumber of the main features of the microwave spectrum of this anion up to the rotational quantum number of J=4

I was thinking of using 2B(J+1) but was no entirely sure....

(ii) the effect of the microwave spectrum of enriching the carbon atom with its C13 isotope??

feedback would be much appreciated
