Find delta g for protonation of CO by H3+
« on: February 22, 2011, 01:54:59 AM »
How would you calculate delta G for this reaction?

H3+ + CO  :rarrow: HCO+ + H2

I'm assuming that delta G should be negative since H2 should be much more stable than H3+, but how can I calculate an exact value when all I'm given is this equation?  ??? I've tried looking for the standard free energy of formation of H3+, but I couldn't find it anywhere.

Thanks for the *delete me*
