« on: March 03, 2011, 09:43:00 AM »
Hi ,

I used 3-tert-butyl-2-hydroxybenzaldehyde oxime and 3,5-di tert-butyl-2-hydroxybenzaldehyde oxime to extract with copper . Which one can extract more copper ? Why?

the structure of 3,5-di tert-butyl-2-hydroxybenzaldehyde oxime

You did the experiment, what are your results? What factors do you think will affect the ability of the compound to pick up a metal ion?

my result showed 3-tert-butyl-2-hydroxybenzaldehyde oxime can extrect Copper better .I know the 3 substituent on electron properties of the donor set have affect the formation of copper comples. So, I am think of the problem t-butyl group at 5 postive.
