Hey,
In terms of use and advantage, what does steam distillation have over simple distillation? I want to say that steam distillation is good for separating two volatile components, say water and some organic solvent that is insoluble and unreactvie with water, whereas simple distillation is better for separating a volatile component from a nonvolatile component, such as separating water from the salt dissolved in it. Does that sound about right? Thanks.
