Van't Hoff Isochore calculation
« on: April 29, 2011, 09:54:56 AM »
The question reads:

NO can be formed in th exhausts of jet engines by the equation below
N2+O2-->2NO (all in gas phase)

There is a list of K standards at different temperatures also.
Determine the enthalpy change for the forwards reaction and state any assumptions you have made.

Im pretty sure its the van't hoff isochore equation you need to use as it relates ln K standard to Temperature, however Im stuck on how you manipulate the equation, it's dlnK/dT=deltaH(standard)/RT^2;
-How do you get deltaH on its own to be able to calculate the enthalpy change?
-How do you get a value for all of the temperatures together because there are 4 different temperature values listed all with different K standard values?
-Do you need the equation for the equilibrium standard- in which case would the assumtion made be that the standard pressure is 1x10^5 Pa (which it wouldn't be because the pressure whilst flying would be different to that when on the gorund)
