A nice example of a compound containing an aromatic ring which clearly deviates from planarity is the cyclophane alkaloid
Haouamine A

Check out the chapter on aromaticity in March's. It covers a number of examples dealing with non-plainarity, skipped conjugation, and other strange things. Also a good discussion of what aromatic and anti-aromatic actually mean.
