Not a specific organic question, but I will be performing organic chemistry in the apparatus
This is a problem I'm hoping someone out there has encountered and solved.
I have several SS stir shafts at a standard 3/8" diameter. I see that 3/8" and 10mm seem to be interchangable in print regarding shafts and vacuum adaptors for flasks (example vacuum adapter
http://www.chemglass.com/product_view.asp?pnr=CG-2077-G), but in reality, the standard SS shafts I have are 9.525mm, and don't seal with 10mm bearing adaptors.
I was hoping someone made an adaptor for 9.5mm shafts, but I cannot find any. This would be the best solution, as I can use the $500+ worth of stirr shafts and paddels (some very specialized blades).
The other option is trying to someshow coat the shafts with a hardening resin to thicken them up enough to seal. not easy to do evenly, nor best for longterm wear even if successful.
Anyone know of a 9.5mm sealable bearing out there?
