I can think of two strategies one could use. It would depend on what is being discussed in the class (I missed it). One could use a Wittig reaction or protecting groups. It has been written as though this is a protecting group problem. What has been happening in class?

Bit round the houses, but there are ways that do not involve either of these strategies - I can write steps out on paper that do this in 4, but yes, it would be handy to know what level this is at.
