Lewis structures!
« on: September 01, 2011, 09:30:49 AM »
So im studying for my orgo exam, and im getting mad because the lewis structures in the book are too easy, and I really want to be challenged.

Can you guys possibly list some names of really difficult lewis structures to draw in general thank you!

Or just nitrogen dioxide.

And what about the Lewis structure of O2? Is it proper to draw it with a double bond to indicate the bond order, or a single bond to indicate the triplet state?
Individual results may vary

Thank you for the contribution.

NO2 was a tricky one I still dont really understand why it would have that 1 lone electron of the N.

Any ways would O2 be a double bond? It pleases the octet rule.

Oxygen is one of those molecules where the lewis structure shortcomings become pronounced.

Frankly, if you can do NO2, N3-, etc you are fine. Lewis Structures are not suppose to be this big challenge by the time you're in o. chem.
