I had a lab for water displacement and it compared these two methods.
The first method was putting 1 sphere inside a graduated cylinder to find out it's volume.
(pretty simple and straightforward)
The second method was to put 10 spheres inside a graduated cylinder and then divide by 10 in order to find the average volume for a sphere.
My lab report says that the second method should be more precise (or reliable). Turns out that according to my results, the second method was in fact more precise. But now I have to figure out why and answer the question. I can't seem to think of why the second method has more precision though? any ideas? much appreciated.
