Net Ionic equation - A Question
« on: September 28, 2011, 12:50:56 PM »
I was looking over this question, and now I am fully confused. I have tried to answer it, and when I checked it was wrong.

Can anyone tell the answer for this Question? :

What is the correct net ionic equation, including all coefficients, charges, and phases, for the following set of reactants? Assume that the contribution of protons from H_2SO_4 is near 100%.

Ba(OH)_2(aq) + H_2SO_4(aq) ----->

[This is the answer I did = Ba2+ (aq) + SO42- (aq) = BaSO4 (s)]

can can anyone answer this?

The equation you wrote seems to be fine. The other half will include the 2 H+ and 2 OH- ions that form water.

As it has other half, it is incomplete, and as such hardly correct :p
