Need help balancing a redox reaction
« on: October 23, 2011, 11:08:06 PM »
Need help with this question.
O2 + H6C1206 --> CO2 + H20

Step by step please.
I think that these are my half cell reactions:

Oxidation: 32e + H6C12O6  --> CO2
Reduction: 2e + O2 --> H2O
Adding Reactions: H6C1206 + 16 H20 --> CO2 +16 O2

Is this right? My left side and right side are not balanced like this....

Balancing it as a redox is a waste of time, it can be much faster and much simple balanced just by inspection.

Are you specifically told to balance using half cells approach, or are you just told to balance?

I have been specifically asked to balance it as a redox equation using half cell equations.
