Intermolecular Forces- Hydrogen Bonding Lab
« on: November 09, 2011, 06:56:47 PM »
I did a lab today and we had to mix ethanol with water and glycerol with water and measure the change in temperature. Both substances were mixed when their temperature was equal. What I dont understand is why there is a change in temperature. Secondly, why does one have a higher change in temperature (what causes it to have a higher change in temperature)? The only thing i can think of is that it has something to do with the hydroxyl group  :(

temperature change is the result of the enthalpy change of solution
