Hi
how to convert double and triple bond to single bond?

Draw one line instead of two or three respectively between the carbon atoms!
Have you no ideas?
Development Chemists do it on Scale, Research Chemists just do it!

(ethyne) HC≡CH ---> H3C-CH3 (ethane)

Is something being added or removed, and what?
Is this reduction or oxidation?

Try to answers these, if you still confused you'll be helped.
I'm still learning - always check my work/answer.

 This is an example of reduction of Alkene or alkyne to alkane...
In such type of reactions, Hydrogen molecule is added across the double bonds ...
It can be achieved by reacting the alkene or alkyne to Hydrogen gas in presence of some metal catalyst...like Pt,Pd,Ni etc..

Oh, you mean E-Z notation for geometric isomerism, and not a chemical reaction to alter a chemical.  In that case, your first response was correct.  Good work there, discodermolide:

Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.
