Ethereal Solvent
« on: December 09, 2011, 07:51:33 PM »
What exactly is an ethereal solvent?

I tried googling it but didn't come up with a definition at all...

Thanks.

I believe an ethereal solvent is a solvent that is an either (contains an R-O-R' bond where R are alkyl groups (can be the same or different).

Commonly used ethereal solvents are tetrahydrofuran (THF) and diethyl ether (CH3CH2-O-CH2CH3, or Et2O).

Googling "ether solvents" will help
