Finding Ksp from measured Voltage

A voltage of 0.568 v is measured for the following cell:

Pb(s)/PbF2(s)/F-(0.1M)//Cl-(0.1M)/AgCl(s)/Ag(s)
Determine Ksp for PbF2

---------------------------------------------------
PbF2+2e-->Pb +2F-   E= -0.350

2AgCl +2e ---> 2Ag+ 2Cl-        E= 0.222

K=10-2(0.568+0.350/0.0592)


Does this look correct?

I think what I did was find the Ksp of the overall reaction not the PbF2 reaction. I think even the Ksp for the overall reaction is wrong. Not really sure how I would get to the Ksp of PbF2.

Use information provided to calculate concentration of Pb2+.

I think you have use the E0 value of Ag/AgCl cell. You know the Cl- concentration. So, you can find the Ag/AgCl half cell voltage by nernst's equation .

After, Find the voltage of the Pb/PbF2 half cell.

There after you may substitute those data on nernst's equation. And you can find the Pb2+ concentration. After that you can work out Ksp value.

Ah, okay. Thanks!! So it isn't a very challenging problem it just has some tedious work. I don't have the time to go back to it right now but I will try this as soon as I can.

If Pb/PbF2 half cell voltage is not available for you, then you have to calculate it by using standard half cell potential of Pb/Pb2+ and Ksp of PbF2. By substituting them in Nernst's equation.

So you are suggesting to calculate potential using Ksp, then to use potential to calculate Ksp. I have a felling you are moving in circles.

Yes. Borek is corect. You have to find the PbF2/Pb potential.
