I am trying to match clues with molecules, and the clue I am given is "Its chemistry grade is always just a 'C'."
Forgive me for not quite knowing how to name it, but the answer is a γ-lactone with a double bond in the cyclopentane ring and with an ethylene glycol as a substituent, as well as with a hydroxl group coming off of both sides of the double bond.
Does anyone know what this "chemistry grade" that they are referring to is? I tried googling it but all that has come up, unsurprisingly, are the websites of chemistry teachers.
