NMR - predicting splitting pattern

I'm really just having trouble interpreting this question:

Predict the splitting pattern for H3 of 4,4-dimethyl-2-pentanol.

I just dont know which H they are talking about.

Apparently the answer is it is doublet.

They're talking about the H on carbon #3.  Please review organic nomenclature in your organic text if you do not know which carbon is carbon #3.

looking at the 3rd C-atom we see a proton with only one H at three bonds distance --> only 1 proton is involved in the splitting pattern --> doublet.
