Hi All,

I am sitting on a little problem on how to find out Newton Number in mixing vessels ?

I need to do scale-up of a bioreactor from 1 L to 10L, 100L and then to 500L and want to have P/V as the scale-up factor.

Our management purchased a 100L vessel , which has got a motor fixed on the bottom of the vessel. I can only adjust the rpm of the stirrer and I don't know how to measure Newton Number (or to perform Torque measurements). Has anyone got experience in this kind of vessels ?

Which instrument could I use and How can I perform torque measurements ?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Mixing.
