What can ethanedioate solution be used to test for?
Such as any metal ions?
Also what can ethanedioate solution and HCl be used to test for?

Ethanedioate (or oxalate) can be a ligand and forms complex ions with transition metal ions.
HCl can be used to test for a metal because many metals will react with a strong acid.
ex: Mg + 2 HCl --> MgCl2 +H2
