Undergrad courses
« on: April 18, 2012, 03:09:27 PM »
finishing up with calc 3 and feel like I need more math. I am currently a chem major and just registered. Here are some of the maths related classes I registered for: linear algebra, quantum chem, adv. engineering maths. Is this overkill? Will linear algebra and adv. engineering be applicable to my major in chemistry? I am still up in the air about where I want to head with chemistry.

i am an engineer and trying to have a new career in chemistry, because i love it. so i know a lot about maths and learning chemistry now. i dont know your background in maths but anyway, linear algebra wont bother you. its dead easy. quantum chemistry is a lot. i ve just read Quantum Chemistry (on my own, not through school). There is a lot of math over there. if you want to learn the underlying reasons and laws, yeah you need a lot of advanced math knowledge.

adv. engineering maths is hard. but since you have finished calc 3, you ll get over it with some effort.

hope this helps.
