Most conductive saline solution?
« on: April 21, 2012, 09:36:47 AM »
Hi,

I'm currently running electrical currents from the feet up but would like to improve conductivity, since I don't have access to an amplifier.

I'm using cotton rags dipped in a saline solution, placed on top of metal sheets from which the current originates. The rags are then wrapped around the top of the foot. Compared to simply placing the feet on top of the metal sheets, without the saline rags, this significantly improves conductivity and sensation.

My question is this. I've been using ordinary kosher table salt for the saline solution. Is there a better conductor out there that can safely come in contact with the feet? I've read that calcium carbonate is one of the best conductors in a saline solution, yet other sources indicate that it's a poor conductor. If someone could please point to a great conductor and/or comment on the conductivity of calcium carbonate mixed with water, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thank you,
Alex

Greetings, TheSlothRedux: and welcome to the forums.  Your application is a little hard to follow.  Also, we have a policy, here on this board, that we don't have lengthy discussions on dangerous topics:  for example, explosives, narcotics or preparations for self-medication.  You're the first person (AFAIK) to bring up the topic of sending current through the human body.  Presumably you know to avoid allowing current of certain wattage through the chest, to avoid disturbing the heart's pacemaker.  You also may or may know know that certain frequencies of alternating current are safer than others.  If you know all these things, than you can probably find out the basics of solution conductivity on your own.
