why does 2-methypropanal show cannizzaro rxn even though it has an alpha hydrogen? if i try to see an aldol condensation with it, the enolate ion will not be very stable due to +I effect of two methyl groups but will this be so significant? what could the other possible exceptions be? is there any way we can predict this?
